The Canon Pixma TR4520 is a compact all-in-one printer with wireless capability. This guide shows you how to connect it to your Wi-Fi network using two methods — the printer's control panel and the Canon PRINT app.
Before You Begin
- Your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password
- The printer is unpacked and powered on
- Ink cartridges are installed
- Paper is loaded in the rear tray
- Your smartphone or computer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want the printer to use
Method 1: Wi-Fi Setup via Control Panel
Step 1: Press the Wi-Fi button on the printer's control panel. The Wi-Fi indicator will start flashing blue.
Step 2: Press the Color button to confirm Wi-Fi setup mode.
Step 3: On your computer or phone, go to your Wi-Fi settings and look for a network named "Canon_ij_" followed by a series of characters. Connect to it.
Step 4: A Canon setup page should open automatically in your browser. If it doesn't, open a browser and go to the IP address shown on the printer's display.
Step 5: Select your home Wi-Fi network from the list, enter the password, and click Connect.
Step 6: The printer will connect and the Wi-Fi indicator will stop flashing and stay lit when successful.
Method 2: Using Canon PRINT App (Recommended)
The Canon PRINT app is available for iOS and Android and makes setup much simpler.
- Download Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY from the App Store or Google Play.
- Open the app and tap "Register Printer" or the printer icon with a "+" sign.
- The app will search for nearby Canon printers. Select your TR4520 when it appears.
- The app will guide you through connecting the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
- Once connected, you can print directly from the app or add the printer to your phone's system print settings.
Method 3: WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)
If your router has a WPS button, you can connect without entering a password:
- Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer until the lamp flashes.
- Press the WPS button on your router within 2 minutes.
- The printer will automatically connect. The Wi-Fi lamp will stop flashing when the connection is established.
Adding the Printer to Windows 11
After connecting the printer to Wi-Fi, add it to Windows:
- Go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.
- Click "Add device".
- Windows should detect the TR4520 on your network. Click "Add device" next to it.
- For full functionality, download the Canon driver from usa.canon.com/support.
Adding the Printer to Mac
- Go to Apple Menu → System Settings → Printers & Scanners.
- Click the "+" button to add a new printer.
- Select your TR4520 from the list. Mac will automatically download the correct driver.
Troubleshooting Wi-Fi Connection Issues
- Printer not found? Make sure your phone/computer is connected to the 2.4 GHz band. The TR4520 doesn't support 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
- Connection drops? Move the printer closer to the router. Thick walls and interference from other electronics can weaken the signal.
- Wrong password? Double-check your Wi-Fi password. The setup is case-sensitive.
